The pandemic of 2020 boosted demand for ICU facilities and healthcare professionals by leaps and bounds. Hospitals and patients were and are still witnessing massive shortage of nurses to meet COVID-19 nurse staffing demand as more and more people are falling prey to this dreadful corona virus. The shortfall of nurses and ICU facilities bed was noticed between October 2020 and May 2021. A survey on Epic’s Pulse Central Portal was conducted where 183 unique healthcare companies from 809 hospitals participated – the number of nurses who took care of covid-19 patients in mid-September rose to 77,500 from 22,500. The demand of COVID-19 Nurses rose significantly in metropolitan, rural, and suburban hospitals by 249%, 282%, and 131% respectively. And, this number is bigger than it sounds or your can read. With December arrived a bee line of COVID-19 patients.
